Systems Engineer (Level 2-3)

Our client, a major retailer and ecommerce player is currently looking for a Systems Engineer to join their superb infrastructure support team. The candidate will be involved in the management of a distributed technical infrastructure (300 servers, 5 locations) and will work on systems projects as well as the support of a Windows-centric technical environment.

Deep knowledge of the Microsoft enterprise product suite are required for this position. A team-centric and “can do attitude” are essential as well.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and prompt resolution of networking and/or computer issues.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve issues with Operating Systems and applications efficiently and quickly.  
  • Windows server configuration and troubleshooting which may include, Active Directory, Group Policy, Server backups, etc.
  • Basic Microsoft Exchange maintenance and troubleshooting VMWare server management.
  • Perform hardware and software moves, changes, additions and upgrades.
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot wired/wireless networks including managed switches, Wifi, etc.
  • Proficient use of Service Ticket to document tasks and issue resolution.
  • Identify potential issues with computer systems and recommend changes to improve IT environment.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years technical support experience. Recent/relevant experience in the fields of IT, Windows Network technology with an advanced knowledge of computer troubleshooting.
  • Microsoft certification is a plus.
  • Scripting and PowerShell expertise is a HUGE plus.
  • Familiarity with helpdesk incident and ticket resolution process.
  • Excellent communication skills-both with team members and end users.
  • Independent thinking and effective time management.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment.
  • Creative and analytical thinker / problem solver.
  • Team player with a positive “can do” attitude, willing and able to meet agreed upon goals.
  • Ability to work in multiple environments (both physically on site as well as remotely)
