Buyer / Procurement Specialist

We are conducting a search for our client, a dynamic, growing healthcare firm, based in Brooklyn, NY, for a Buyer / Procurement Specialist.  This is an incredible opportunity with enormous upside potential to work in an exciting, high-energy, environment with a company that is experiencing tremendous growth.  Excellent opportunity to expand your Purchasing Career especially in the areas of being involved in complex procurement projects and being part of building and leading a purchasing department.  
You will be charged with planning, leading, executing, and implementing effective strategic sourcing activities. The ideal candidate will be extremely analytical, able to analyze large amounts of information about products and pricing trends. Experience dealing with products in which the pricing is volatile is extremely desirable for this position. Other skills such as initiating cost saving measures, excellent decision making and analytical skills as well as solid communication and vendor relations skill are highly desirable. This is an exciting opportunity for someone that wants to segue into a more managerial position as the purchasing department is poised for rapid growth.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of solid buying / purchasing experience and is proficient with purchasing a wide variety of items with multiple vendors.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with quantitative analysis for decision making.
  • Ability to manage strategic procurement activities, including scheduling, tracking, reporting, coordinating and communicating.
  • Ability to forecast upcoming demand and consolidate multiple projects for combined buying power.
  • Ability to allocate resources, establish quarterly and annual goals, and ability to deliver updates and reports on key strategic projects.
  • Ability to identify product and service solutions and providers, conduct spend/pricing analysis, and use industry negotiating strategies.
  • Responsibility, discipline and organization are ESSENTIAL for this role.
  • Excellent communication skills, an energetic personality, people skills (requires interacting with co-workers, vendors and management) are also ESSENTIAL
  • Proficient with Excel or other purchasing software to evaluate and track pricing, delivery time, credit, quality, reliability of vendors etc.
