Sr. Desktop Support Engineer - Level 2-3

We are conducting a search for an IT Support Engineer for a mid-size firm in Union, NJ. Join a team committed to troubleshooting and administering Windows technologies in a challenging, fast-paced environment. The IT Support Engineer is primarily responsible for the support, administration, and maintenance of desktops, laptops, software, printers and associated peripherals. Duties of this position include the installation, configuration, and support of operating systems and applications; participation in remote site administration; and production support activities. There will also be opportunities to work with the server team as well.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues associated with PC's, laptops, printers, remote access and file shares.
  • Work with and learn from the Lead Tech in an environment with best practices.
  • Assist in upgrades, migrations, and asset inventory.
  • Follow IT workflow process
  • Use IT Support Request system to document, prioritize, and track requests.
  • Friendly presence and helpful attitude; good interpersonal and presentation skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Configuring new computer hardware and software (mostly Windows based).
  • Performing upgrades and configuration of desktop and related peripherals
  • Troubleshooting desktop issues
  • Taking service calls and either resolve them or pass them on appropriately
  • Utilizing Service Desk system to maintain records of requests and responses for support issues
  • Hardware/Software installs and upgrades
  • Reading memory dumps
Technological Proficiencies:
  • 2-3 years experience in providing Desktop IT Support.
  • Level II desktop support experience with Windows 10, MS Office, Active Directory, and proprietary applications. Some experience with Level 3 issues is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Win7
  • Expert in creating user accounts in Active Directory- creating distribution lists, global contacts in Exchange, etc.
  • Print server and network printers setup and troubleshooting
  • Competency in installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing computer hardware and software on PCs and related equipment
  • Excellent people skills and communication skills
  • Ability to concisely describe or summarize a problem and steps taken to diagnose and resolve it, in writing if necessary
  • Ability to deal with a diverse population, including strong accents
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills and use new types of information
  • Responsibility and reliability
